From the 28th to the 29th of June 2017 Nefula will be at the NET FUTURES Conference in Bruxelles.
NET FUTURES is the annual event co-organized by the European Commission to explore the future of Internet, economy and society. We will be hosted by the STARTS (Science, Technologies and the ARTS) programme, launched by the European Commission in 2014 to encourage synergies between the Arts and innovation for technology and society, inside the Horizon 2020 projects.
At NET FUTURES we will present The Futures of Work.
The Futures of Work is the result of a Near Future Design process in the form of an elaborate Design Fiction, output of the Transmedia Design course held by Proff. Salvatore Iaconesi and Oriana Persico at ISIA Firenze, in collaboration with Nefula.
The pavillon, curated by Martine-Nicole Rojina (Mpathy), show performances, works, and exhibitions that explores new possible scenarios where arts, design, and scientific research working together, putting in the same room the works of researcher, pioneers, performers, and students.
What skills does a human being need to compete with an AI in the job market? What happens when your employer is an algorithm? And what if you could be replaced by robots? What happens when platforms transform human beings into replaceable commodities? How does computationally calculated social ranking in influence work, careers and professional relationships? What is the future of leisure in the rise of 24/7 culture?
Through the Near Future Design methodology, students explored how the world of work is changing, creating scenarios to open up a shared conversation about it. We present them for the first time at NET FUTURES 2017, Bruxelles, with technological support of our partner Her – Human Ecosystems Relazioni.
We will also present the Future Map of the future of work, an organized scheme of Possible Futures, highlighting the relations and in influences around the topic of work.
